Selection/separation of wood for specific value added products by NIR spectroscopyCompleted

Project leaders: Cooper, Paul

Objective:

Near infrared spectroscopy can characterize wood surfaces in seconds and without significant surface preparation, based on correlations between subtle chemical differences and the properties of interest. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the potential of NIR to identify and sort wood for value added applications with respect to species, colour and physical properties and as affected by surfacing and aging history.
