Impact of extreme pH of structural adhesives on bond durabilityCompleted

Project leaders: Cooper, Paul

Objective:

The objective of this project is to evaluate the effect of extreme pH characteristics of dry adhesive films (pH < 3 and pH > 11) on the wood substrate and the resulting effects on adhesive bond durability and performance after exposure to different humidity conditions. The project will provide background information that will assist wood adhesive standard committees in setting appropriate adhesive pH limits for the newly published CSA O112.9 standard and the proposed CSA O112.10 standard.
