Consumer preferences for decking products : North AmericaCompleted

Objective:

  • Identify those characteristics of wood decking that are most important to consumers;
  • Evaluate public perceptions of decking products with regard to material, maintenance, lifetime, cost, and environmental labelling;
  • Profile consumer demographics and characteristics such as attitude, knowledge, and beliefs in order to relate these to decking material preferences for major markets in Ontario, Quebec, and three major regions of the US;
  • Document perceptual changes due to preservative changes and media;
  • Determine consumer attitudes to changes in treatment chemicals and products.
