Use of Non-Destructive test (NDT) Techniques for Quality Control of Engineered Wood Products and for Defect Detection in WoodCompleted

Objective:

Investigate and develop NDT techniques to evaluate critical mechanical properties for engineered wood products as quality control tool. This research will:

  • Investigate and develop NDT techniques to detect defects in wood as process control tool for wood products like wood I-joists, open web joists;
  • Enhance and speed-up quality control procedures and allow that allow testing of all production rather than just random destructive testing;
  • Use the tools to detect defects as a quality-monitoring technique to better utilize the wood resource.
