Improving cutting tool performance via plasma nano-depositionNew

Objective:

The primary objective of this project is to demonstrate the possibility of improving the service life of cutting tools in the wood products sector.            

The specific objectives are to:

§          determine treatment parameters for depositing nanoparticles on cutting tools;

§          demonstrate improved resistance to chemical attacks triggered by wood extractives (corrosion-related wear);

§          demonstrate improved resistance to wear (friction) resulting from nanometric deposits.
