New avenues for reducing resin exudation for exterior applicationsNew

Objective:

The overall objective of this project is to reduce resin exudation observed for certain softwood species used in exterior applications.

More specifically, the project is intended to:

  • conduct a literature review and analysis of the procedures used in industry to minimize this phenomenon;
  • carry out a physical-chemical characterization of exuded compounds;
  • propose and evaluate exudation reduction strategies in the laboratory in cooperation with industry;
  • transfer and test the best solutions for industrial scale applications, if applicable.
