Advanced Technologies to Improve Penetration of Wood TreatmentsNew

Objective:

The intent is to eliminate the competitive disadvantage of Canadian wood species in markets where chemical impregnation is required to improve wood properties such as decay and termite resistance, fire resistance or wood hardness and surface appearance is a key attribute. The two year deliverables would be pilot scale studies on biological incising to determine the potential for implementation in Canadian treating plants and paper studies on the costs and throughput of needle, water jet and laser incisors.
