Assessing Preferences for Wood Characteristics in Visual ApplicationsCompleted

Objective:

Create a better understanding of how consumers view and evaluate wood characteristics when assessing visual applications such as wood furniture and flooring. This research will:

  • Add value to finished wood products by optimizing visual characteristics;
  • Increase the opportunities for Canadian species not typically used in visual applications can be determined;
  • Define key wood characteristics and develop theoretic measurements and scales to capture them;
  • Obtain information about the interaction of wood features in the eye of the consumer or user.
