Characterization and Valorization of Organic Products Released from Lumber DryingCompleted
Project leaders: Stevanovic, Tatjana
Evaluate the organic compounds released in the water condensates or in humid air from drying of different wood species by different drying processes (conventional and dehumidification drying). This research will:
Characterize and quantify organic compounds released in water condensates or humid air during conventional drying (medium temperature) and dehumidification drying for the following species: red oak, sugar maple, black spruce and jack pine;
Identify those products recovered that are natural elements of the wood (extractables) and those that result from the transformation of the wood's elements;
Assess the possibility of reclaiming certain products for commercial use.
