Design Methods for Connections in Engineered Wood StructuresCompleted

Objective:

Ensure that timber structures maintain a competitive position in relation to structures built with other common structural materials. This research will:

  • Develop generalized methods for assigning design resistances to connections in timber products with emphasis on engineered wood products;
  • Develop design methods for structural connections in engineered wood structures, i.e. methods that reflect the characteristics of those products;
  • Develop methods for reliability based design of structural wood connections;
  • Pursue implementation of project results in Canadian and international timber design codes.
