Project leaders: Blanchet, Pierre

Objective:

This project is designed to document industry installation practices, and to recommend improvements. The objectives of this project are to:

  • promote a better understanding of good installation practices for wood flooring products (conventional solid strip flooring and engineered products);
  • assess the performance of wood flooring systems installed over radiant-heating floors (concrete and plywood/OSB);
  • assess the performance of wood flooring systems installed over damp concrete slabs (with and without a damp-proofing membrane);
  • evaluate the efficiency of soundproofing systems in relation to the type of floor over which wood flooring has been installed;
  • define good installation practices on the basis of the above parameters.
