Life cycle analysis of windows and doorsCompleted

Project leaders: Sowlati, Taraneh

Objective:

The Canadian window and door industry sold between $4.5 and 5.0 billion dollars of product in 2002 with wood accounting for $1.8 billion. Export demand for wooden windows and doors increased by about 7 % in 2001-02. Maintaining this level of growth is a challenge for the sector particularly in the face of strong competition from PVC and fibre-glass products.

  • develop information to accurately compare the environmental impacts of windows and doors made from different framing materials.
