Research on value added wood and composite products at the University of Toronto is undertaken by staff and graduate students at the Faculty of Forestry and Departments of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry, Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and Civil Engineering. The main research areas are value-added natural fibre products and processing, wood adhesives and composites, engineered wood products and wood deterioration and protection. The University of Toronto has a range of research facilities and equipment for the manufacture of composites and treated wood products as well as for physical, chemical and mechanical characterization of wood, other natural fibres, chemical additives and adhesives.
